You Need Leadership Development, Here is Why....

Leading is BIGGER than a title….

Leading is more than status and a bigger paycheck!

Most organizations believe there is a major gap in leadership due to a lack of development.

The data shows:

  • 77% of organizations report they’re experiencing a leadership gap.

  • 63% of Millennials say their leadership skills are not being fully developed.

    • Please note that Millennials will be the core of the workforce in a few years.

      They will be your future leaders.

  • 83% of businesses say it’s important to develop leaders at all levels.

Although this highlights a need, ONLY 5% of businesses have implemented leadership development at all levels. The belief that it’s only needed at that top tier (executive level) should change because as you progress into other leadership levels, the scope of responsibility changes, your strategy might change and your confidence also might take a hit.

There is not only a need, there are traits that a leader should exude to be effective in their role. Those include:

As I mentioned in my first blog post, “Are Leaders Born? No!!”, leaders are not born but there are traits that some individuals are born with that can aid them in those roles. Essentially, leadership effectiveness can be developed but we must take time to do so.

This leadership series I created was birthed from the realization that there is MAJOR gap in leadership development that will negatively affect teams and companies who do not make it a priority. Prior to my understanding of the power of developing as a leader, I was not effective which affected morale and production within my teams. I got the results but I didn’t have the emotional intelligence to connect with my team. Once I personally and professionally developed, I made it priority to be better because I knew how much it would benefit my team and the organization.
